Health event: the effects of climate change
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that climate change currently causes at least 150,000 deaths a year, a figure that is expected to double by 2030. In addition to rapid and widespread changes in the atmosphere, oceans, cryosphere and biosphere, climate change also has a direct impact on health. Increased risks related to the emergence of new pandemics and infectious diseases and changes in air quality and ozone are just some of the health implications.
At this event we will discuss some of the impacts that climate change could have on health, and the main challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
