New collective position on more effective and impactful sustainable regulation launched
A group of 28 Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) has launched a joint document with practical recommendations on the subject - a better regulation for stronger implementation of sustainability policies. The document, presented on June 24 during the meeting of the European CSO Network with representatives of the European Union, seeks to bring the design of European policies closer to the reality experienced by companies on the ground.
Based on the direct experience of sustainability professionals, the position warns of the challenges caused by complex, overlapping and unclear regulations, which hinder the effective implementation of ESG practices. It advocates a transition from a model centered on compliance with obligations to one based on incentiveswhich will drive innovation and business action towards sustainability. Among the proposals are concrete recommendations for regulatory simplification, greater alignment between sustainability objectives and competitiveness, and the creation of favorable conditions for sustainable innovation.
